Dates are considered as one of the most valuable and useful foods and have unique benefits. Another characteristic of dates is that only one side of the date is always facing outwards, and the other side is not visible until it is picked.
There is an interesting phenomenon in cosmology called gravitational locking. This phenomenon, which is common to planets, occurs when the gravity of a planet is much greater than the gravity of another planet. When gravitational locking occurs for a smaller planet, that planet cannot move and always has only one side facing the large, heavy planet, and the other side is not visible.
The moon is subject to a gravitational lock phenomenon due to the Earth's powerful gravity, and only one side of the moon faces the Earth, and while one side faces the Earth, it appears thin and complete. In the Quran, which was published 1400 years ago, there is an extremely accurate analogy about the moon that reveals this scientific fact.
Yā-Sīn
وَٱلۡقَمَرَ قَدَّرۡنَٰهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱلۡعُرۡجُونِ ٱلۡقَدِيمِ(39)
As for the moon, We have determined phases for it, until it becomes like an old palm stalk.​​​​​​​
