Today, people around the world know that the Earth is not fixed in one place and is orbiting the Sun. This rotation is done at a very high speed of about 500 meters per second. I wish we could travel to the distant past with the scientific information we have now and convey this information to the people of that time when Ptolemy's theories of Earth and the stars were being proposed.
But a book from that era has come down to us, called the Quran, which clearly tells us this point.
An-Naml
وَتَرَى ٱلۡجِبَالَ تَحۡسَبُهَا جَامِدَةٗ وَهِيَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ ٱلسَّحَابِۚ صُنۡعَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَتۡقَنَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍۚ إِنَّهُۥ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَفۡعَلُونَ(88)
 
You will see the mountains, thinking them firmly fixed, but they will be moving like clouds – such is the design of Allah, Who has perfected everything. Indeed, He is All-Aware of what you do. 
 
One of the greatest features of the Quran is that it gives several meanings at the same time, and all of the meanings it provide are correct.
Another concept we can infer from this verse is the movement of the Earth's plates. The Earth has 7 large plates and several small plates, all of which are currently moving, but because the Earth is extremely large and these movements are very slow, humans do not notice this movement.​​​​​​​
