One of the most frequent questions that almost everyone has is “why the Quran was revealed in Arabic”. There are many answers. One possible answer is, if it were in any other language, this question would not have arisen? Another answer is the great power of the Arabic language to convey the most information in the shortest sentence or even word, and this noble verse is one of these words that expresses multiple meanings.
Yā-Sīn
وَٱلشَّمۡسُ تَجۡرِي لِمُسۡتَقَرّٖ لَّهَاۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقۡدِيرُ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡعَلِيمِ(38)
The sun is running to its determined course. That is the design of the All-Mighty, All-Knowing.
 
وَٱلۡقَمَرَ قَدَّرۡنَٰهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱلۡعُرۡجُونِ ٱلۡقَدِيمِ (39)
As for the moon, We have determined phases for it, until it becomes like an old palm stalk.
 
لَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ يَنۢبَغِي لَهَآ أَن تُدۡرِكَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ وَلَا ٱلَّيۡلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّهَارِۚ وَكُلّٞ فِي فَلَكٖ يَسۡبَحُونَ (40)
It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor for the night to outstrip the day. Each is floating in its own orbit.
 
In the word " لِمُسۡتَقَرّٖ ", the letter "م" means time and place, and the letter "ل" means "towards." The word " تَجۡرِي " has various meanings, such as transitional movement, positional movement, continuation of temporal life, and movement within the sun. The word " يَسۡبَحُونَ " means "floating in a fixed orbit."
 
What is more interesting is that these verses were conveyed by the Prophet at a time when Ptolemy's theories of the onion-skin sky and that the stars were silver nails in the sky were prevalent in all scientific circles of that time. Reciting such verses is an absolute sign of the miracle of the Holy Quran and the power of God.​​​​​​​
