In the past, people had misconceptions about almost everything. One of the misconceptions of the past was about the moon. They thought that the sun and the moon were sources and fountains of light. One was yellow and the other was silver. With the passage of time and the advancement of science, it became clear that the moon is not a source of light and it only reflects the light of the sun. And its silver color is due to the color of the moon's surface. In the Muslim book called the Quran, there are verses about the moon that describe this beautiful object as a light (مُّنِيرٗا). The exact meaning of this Arabic word is reflective.
Al-Furqān
تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجٗا وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَٰجٗا وَقَمَرٗا مُّنِيرٗا (61)
 
Blessed is He Who placed in the sky constellations and placed therein a radiant lamp and a luminous moon.
 
Saying such a precise word about the moon and not following the common thoughts of the population can be nothing but the words of the creator of the moon, the earth, and all creatures.​​​​​​​
